God visits a Gurudwara

God was taking a stroll accompanied by Moti,the air was balmy,the flowers were in full bloom and the intoxicating aroma in the atmosphere invaded the senses
Suddenly God came upon a Gurdwara ,in the early morning hours,the gurbani which floated in the air,touched a deep chord in His heart ,it was a very profound experience even for God,the realization dawned upon Him that even today in this highly charged atmosphere of hate there were still some people who believed in the concept of God,the aroma of halwa reached Gods nostrils and its delicious smell made Him feel hnngry.He entered the Gurdwara with naked feet covering His head with a kerchief,and Moti followed suit,on seeing them,the singers stopped singing and every ones eyes were fixed on the duo.The regal apprearance of God left no doubt on everyone present there that here was no ordinary man,God gave everyone a smile and sat down amongst them with closed eyes and folded hands and Moti sat besides Him on hind legs with front paws together and his eyes closed in prayers,forgetting every thing every one just looked at the wonderous sight of God and dog both in prayers when God heard no songs for some time,He opened His eyes and asked the singers why they had stopped the beautiful gurbani,immediately they restarted singing and God was lost in the beauty of their songs.After the prayers,God was offered a packet of halwa,God touched the halwa to His forehead,bent down before the holy Granth sahib and accompanied by Moti He walked out and sat on a stone bench outside the Gurdwara,He opened the packet,fed half the halwa to Moti and the remaining half He ate Himself with great relish .An old sardar who was sitting in a taxi nearby smiled at God,God smiled back”you seem to love the halwa”,said the sardar
God nodded His head,”I eat it daily,I live in this taxi and the halwa is my daily breakfast”.
“you have no house?”,God asked amazed
“my sons thought I was a burden on them so they turned me out of the house,this taxi is the only possession I had.I am a taxi driver by profession I drove the taxi till I had strength in my bones and now in the evening of my life I nolongrt can drive because I suffer from bone disorder and deafness therefore I stay in it,this gurdwara is my second home where I take my bath and eat the food they give me:
“what about your wife?”.
“I lost her when my sons were just knee high,I educated them and put them on their feet,but when it was their turn to do their duty by me they drove me away from their lives,I donot know why I am so unfortunate”.
“a persons misfortune is a product of his own doing”,said God”a man is a creator of his own fate,even when he is in his mothers womb he is affected by the karma of his previous birh,what ever he sows in his last birth,he reaps it in his next birth that is the eternal law of karma,therefore to be born in better circumstances in your next birth you should make everyone your friend and no one your enemy,you should love every one and hate nobody”
“I don ot recall ever hurting any body in this birth I have never even hurt an ant,may be you are right,I am suffering because of the karmas of my previous birth,I feel its high time I left this world,I have nothing to do here I better quit on my own”
“life is a precious thing given to you by God ,instead of thinking of ending it, think how you can better your life”
“how can I think of living a better life when I have no money, this world revolves around money, everyone understands only the language of money, a person without money is of no consequences to anyone or any body, he turns a burden even to himself” ,said the sardar

God felt extremely sorry for the sardar ,whom fate had treated very shabbily ,He wanted to give Him some money to make life easy for him, but He had lost all His savings in the floods, suddenely He remembered a gold coin Goddess Laxshmi had forgotten on His bed the last time she had visited Him,He had put the coin in His shirt pocket to return it to her when she visited Him again, the coin was still in His pocket ,He removed the coin from His pocket and was giving it to the sardar when the Goddess appeared before Him and requested Him not to part with that coin ,but God did not pay heed to the Goddesses request and put the coin in the sardar’s hand”take this gold coin,this coin I am sure will fetch you enough money to live the rest of your life in comfort”
The old man was so overcome with emotion that he fell At Gods feet,with tears flowing from his eyes ,he exclaimed, ”you are a angel in the guise of a human being, may God give you all the happiness in the world”
“it is okay it’s only a man who can help another man, I had this coin I felt that you needed it more then me therefore I gave it to you” ,said God kindly’
When God left ,the old man looked at the coin in his hand ,it shone like the thousand rays of the sun he did not feel like parting with it ,but he needed the money badly to look after his many needs, he took the coin to jewelry shop .The owner looked at the coin and then at the shabby old man. How did the old man get hold of such a priceless coin, surely he must have robbed it from some where . he handed the coin back to the sardar and told him to wait outside ,then he picked up the phone and dialed the police, the sardar sensed some thing fishy in the jewelers behavior and without wasting a moment he ran out ,he ran and he ran to put as much distance as he could between himself and the shop ,he stopped only when his lungs started bursting with pain and then suddenely as if from nowhere an old lady came before him, she took the coin from his hands and handed him a bag full of currency notes,the sardar was greatly astonished ,he pinched himself to see wether he was dreaming,some thing beyond explanation was happening to him,but what ever it was,it had made his day,he was sure the man he had met today was no ordinary man,he must be God who came to him in the form of man,he slapped his forehead if he recounted this to any one they would think he had gone crackers how could God appear before a man who was an atheist, although he ate the food provided by the Gurdwara he had never entered it .
He had been a God fearing man ,he and his wife were regular goers to the Gurdawara,they also kept akhand pathsahib twice a year in their house,but inspite of all his prayers he lost his wife at a young age,but this did not stop him from believing in God but when his sons turned him out of the house,his heart revolted and he stopped praying,from a believer he turned into a complete atheist but after he experienced the miracle,the belief came back to him,he entered the Gurdwara fell to his knees and asked God for forgiveness

When God reached home,Goddess Laxhmi confronted Him at the door,”what has brought you here devi?although God knew the purpose of her visit,he pretended to be in the dark
“why did you hand the coin to the old man?”.
“is the gold coin very precious to you?”
“by giving him the gold coin you had put thr old mans life in great danger,that was a very old coin and nobody is allowed to keep such old coins,all such coins go into the treasury and to be found in possession of such a coin is a criminal offence,by giving him the coin,you had made a very good arrangement for the old man to spend the rest of his life rotting in prison and to save him from such a fate I had to take the coin back from him and in exchange give him a bag of currency notes”.

With the money the sardar started a small business and soon he became the owner of a huge empire ,the old man met the right kind of people and got the right kind of breaks because he had the determination and the ability to learn and the will to succeed.He followed strict routine as far as self-discipline was concerned and had perferct control over his mind,all these attributes were a perferct combination for him to be a successful businessman.
Seeing the old sardar’s success storyYogmaya was very agitated,she appeared before Goddess Laxshmi and said in an agitated voice, “if God keeps interfering in my work,I have no other option but to resign from my post,even Chitragupta is very agitated,as you very well know mother it is he who maintains the accounts of every ones good and bad karmas and I write the punishment for every mans bad karmas,but since God has taken residence on the earth everything has turned upside down.Now take the case of the old sardar,because of his bad karmas in his last birth he was destined that he should die in poverty and disease,but due to Gods intervention he is enjoying fruits that he does not deserve”
“I have advised God not to be carried away,but He has a very kind and a very loving heart, He has promised me that infuture He will be careful”
“mother call Him back,heaven without Him is such a lonely place”
‘I too feel very lonely without His presence,but you know very well that He is the master of this universe and we can not dictate to Him”
Mother I must leave now ,I have to write the destiny of so many people born on the earth today” ,said Yogmaya and hurried off leaving the Goddess alone who was in deep thought thinking of a way to bring God back to heaven
